The Last Healthy Industry in the United States

See ‘America’s Outrageous War Economy!’ Pentagon can’t find $2.3 trillion, wasting trillions on ‘national defense’ for a very depressing commentary by Paul B. Farrell which includes references for still more depressing analyses and commentaries upon the American war economy.

Those of us who love this land and its peoples and the moral order which we once had can read these sorts of stories and weep. Unfortunately, there are corrupt men, politicians and businessmen, who build fortunes upon schemes to keep world tensions high enough to mandate the design and manufacture of horrible weaponry and those men are simply more extreme versions of us, the inhabitants of a morally disordered age. More horribly still, some are inclined to use those weapons in an expanding network of criminal wars and idiotic meddling in affairs which are not our business.

Maybe we’ve reached the point where those of us who love this land and its peoples should feel ashamed of our government, of our political and business and social and cultural leaders. As I’ve suggested before, maybe we should vote for any honest man, any man other than the major party candidates. I prefer Ron Paul but vote for Ralph Nader if that’s your preference.
